"I joined the Scottish Government on a student placement, to help cover for a colleague who was on maternity leave. I enjoyed it so much that, when a permanent opportunity became available, I leapt at the chance of joining.

There are, of course, a lot of private companies that employ web designers like me, but I don't think you'd find such a supportive atmosphere anywhere else. It's a close-knit team, and everyone's really helpful. There's also a real focus on development here – I've only been with the Scottish Government for around a year, but I know that there are loads of opportunities to learn new skills and move into different areas. For the moment, however, I've plenty more to achieve in this role."
